Correction: Columbus Belmont was in travel book

Marge Bateman, KY Department of Tourism

The park is mentioned on page 15 of the guide.

  Hello Mary,

Always enjoy reading the West Kentucky Journal, but have to comment on the lead story on Columbus Belmont.  Columbus Belmont is listed in the 2011 Visitor’s Guide in the Western Section under Kentucky State Parks on page 91 and on page 15 in the front of the book under Run, Relax, Play & Stay in Kentucky State Parks.  Columbus Belmont is also covered on the Parks website at www.parks.ky.gov.

It was not listed in the itinerary in the Visitor’s Guide as they are just a teaser to give the general public a taste of what is in the area.  It would be impossible to list all attractions in any of the itineraries.

I’m sorry that the author felt slighted, but just wish to point out that the comments were not entirely true.

Thanks for your time.

Editor's Note: I'm the author who felt slighted by the official tourism guide. No park employees or local officials had any input into this story.

I apologize to the Department for not noticing the mentions - but I still stick by my assertion that sending tourists to Monkey's Eyebrow was not the best use of state ink.
