Purchase Area Jefferson Jackson Dinner 2011: Adam Edelan – social contract means remembering the forgotten | Adam Edelan, Kentucky, 2011 election, Democrat, Calloway

Commonwealth Attorney Mark Blankenship and Adam Edelan.

Adam Edelan, one of the up and coming candidates of the Democratic Party, is no stranger to statewide politics. He served as Steve Beshear’s chief of staff and has traveled the state on behalf of his boss. Now he’s running in his first political race to become state auditor. Present Auditor Crit Luallen is term limited out of running for the job again. Edelan called her work the “gold standard.”

Adam Edelan recently made news in the Purchase by traveling to the tiny precinct of Madrid Bend, home of seventeen voters living on 14,000 acres. Madrid Bend is the dot at the far western end of Kentucky.  Edelan said that he met a seventy year old woman who remembered the last state campaigner to visit the precinct: Happy Chandler.

He went to Madrid Bend as part of his belief that he should go to the “forgotten corners” of the Commonwealth.  He said that he realizes that Western Kentuckians feel that they are forgotten by Frankfort.

Edelan, who had no primary opponent, will face Republican John T. Kemper, III. Kemper defeated Addia Wuchner in the GOP primary.
