Wedding dresses display years of style

(Clinton KY, June 30, 2011) - The Hickman County Museum hosted a host of wedding dresses from local residents and family members dating as far back as the nineteenth century and as modern as last year.

Hickman County Times editor Gaye Bencini contributed her gown for the show. Bencini wed her husband, Sheldon, way back in the early Nineties.

Resident Judy Long's dress was on display before the Museum fire place. Judy and her husband Jim married while Judy was a student at the University of Kentucky. Judy and Jim also contributed their wedding picture and announcements.

Retired Dept. of Ag. worker Lilly Kimbell's dress from the mid sixties is, in keeping with the era, a mini-dress covered in lace.

Also on display were large and ornate wedding licenses in gold gilt, suitable for framing.

Museum volunteers Jetty Pyle, Sue Brummal and Rose Berry are already talking about a bigger display next year.
