PSC hears Utilities Inc. rate increase request July 14th

The Kentucky Public Service Commission will hold a hearing on Utilities Inc's request to raise water rates by 21% in Middlesboro and Clinton.

The hearing will be broadcast live over the internet through the PSC website. http://psc.ky.gov/

Representing the rate payers will be David Spenard of the Kentucky Attorney General's Office. Hickman County Fiscal Court which successfully intervened as a party will be represented by County Attorney Sue Ellen Morris and County Judge Greg Pruitt.

The City of Clinton filed a motion to intervene as a party. Utilities Inc. protested the City's motion to intervene, but did not comment on the Fiscal Court's motion. No order allowing City intervention was entered by the PSC.

Because there was no order, the City, that serves as a pay station and bases sewer rates on water company rates, is not a party.
