The 18-member Graves County High School All-Girls Cheer Squad won the title of Camp Champs at the University of Tennessee-Martin Universal Cheerleading Association’s Cheer Camp held in mid-July. More than 30 area teams participated, including approximately 450 students. GCHS competed against 10 other teams in the Varsity Elite Division and earned the camp’s top honor when the team performed a routine including a dance, sideline, and cheer learned over the course of two days at the camp.

“The girls worked so hard, received perfect scores, and were absolutely amazing!” said GCHS coach Cheryl Hawkins. “Emily Crisp, Madison Wilferd, and Tamia Fair were selected to the All-American Team, which entitles them to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade alongside other girls from across the nation. Kinsey Camp and Savannah Williams both were offered UCA staff applications, which is considered a real honor. Madison Wilferd was recognized as a model cheerleader, demonstrating what a true cheerleader should be.”

Hawkins added, “All the girls had so much fun and pulled together as team! I am so very proud of each and every one of them. They represented Graves County High School in the most honorable way possible, with the utmost integrity! I cannot wait to see them on the sideline this coming season. I think the fans will be so impressed!"
