(Mayfield KY Dec. 19, 2011)– The Graves County Board of Education at its Dec. 15 meeting nominated one of its own, board member Kelly Whitaker, for a statewide at-large directorship with the Kentucky School Boards Association.

Whitaker is completing her first year on the local school board. She and her colleagues believe she can bring a fresh perspective to KSBA. Whitaker said she knows first-hand the value of education in the face of economic barriers. She hopes to collaborate with others statewide always with the purpose of doing what is best for children.
