The Hickman County Military Club raised $3061 for the Hugs Project of West Kentucky. The Club donated $2000 to send packages to troops in the Middle East for Christmas. Then they gave an additional $1061 to send care packages in January to the troops.

According to Hugs Director Gayron Ferguson, it was the largest donation received all year.

The Military Club is new to Hickman County High School this year. Already it has 50 members dedicated to volunteerism. Students and sponsors from the Club helped caulk and winterize twenty local homes during the fall Caulking the County effort.

According to sponsor school guidance counselor Amy Boaz, the Club "was created in an effort to serve the community and learn the customs and practices of our armed forces."

The next project on the Club's schedule is to raise money to assist the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
