MARTIN, Tenn. – Young writers in grades 3-12 are invited to participate in the University of Tennessee at Martin’s annual Young Writers’ Summer Camp, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day beginning June 18 and continuing through the week.

Students will be divided into two groups and participate in age appropriate writing activities with teachers from their grade levels. Participating teachers come from across West Tennessee, including the Martin, Jackson and Union City school systems.

Participants will be able to improve their writing skills in workshops, mini-lessons on content and editing strategies, writing response groups and one-on-one conferences with teachers from the West Tennessee Writing Project.

Friends and Family Day will be June 22 at noon, and the public is invited to join the writing groups to hear what the students have written during camp.

Registration is $125 per student, which includes a daily snack, t-shirt, writing notebook and an anthology of writing by the campers. All students must register by June 11. Parents should provide a bag or backpack for supplies.
