Online Paducah Sun Newspaper seeks new identity and workers

(Cliinton KY, September 12, 2012) - The Sunday Paducah Sun often has little that really shocks me, grabs my attention, or stops me in my tracks.

Yet, the past Sunday edition of the Paducah Sun, that is exactly what happened. It came within the pages of the Classified Ads section.

I must warn you that I love to review their classified ads. I scan the number against the week before. I judge the number and quality of their auction ads, and finally, I try to see if there is any new movement toward high tech jobs in the Jackson Purchase.

Wow! There they were last Sunday- several ads for an online newspaper to be started by the Paducah Sun. These ads were for a newspaper page designer, an online news reporter and a production inserting position.

Here’s the ad for the online reporter.

All I can think of is that the Paxton family is undergoing either a crisis in the news room where (a ) a whole team of staff has been fired or thrown out of a window (b) like the scene in Three Days of the Condor, the entire staff has been taken out by a wild terrorist organization dressed as US mailmen or more likely, (3) the Paxton family has entered into a secret deal to staff and support a new online newspaper to fully support the re-election of Senator Mitch McConnell.

Or could there be another reason?

Hmmm. Maybe they are reacting to the fact that West Kentucky Journal is now logging over 2,000,000 online hits a year, reaching readers from the White House to Columbus, KY?

Competition is good in most areas. However, with the Paxton family, I suspect they would like the market for West Kentucky political thought to be their private media lake.
