LaDonna Latham, President of the Hickman County Historical & Genealogical Society, is proud to announce that the Society is designing a new way to attract more tourists into the county. Under a theme of “Legends and Myths of Clinton and Hickman County”, one historical home or business will be selected each quarter for tours and dinners.
 
These events will be advertised on a local and regional basis.

“ It is our plan to use the best of our cultural heritage and history to showcase to the state and world, just how much history we have to celebrate in this county.” Latham said.

The first selection for this new economic development approach is the pre-Civil War home on West Clay Street where Ramer B. Jewell lived.

The current owners, Tom and Reena Van Slambrouck and the Society will co-host a community picnic on Thursday, Sept. 27th at 6 pm. The Society will provide the meat. Those attending are welcome to bring their favorite side dishes. There will be tours of the house available.
