The modern truth is that America has lost its Congress to a group of men and women only out for themselves as a collective.  Oh, sure there are good ones left, but they are the exception. Congress now is operating at the level of having an only 9% approval rating from Americans.

In their haste to cover themselves for the next election and maintain their millionaire good life, they have become a broken symbol of what is wrong in modern America. They work for special interests or themselves at the expense of the common citizen or working men and women of this great country.

With each major national issue of importance, Congress has proven time after time that they cannot make a common sense decision to solve problems. A rolling train wreck, Congress delays or moves the decisions down the road to another day.

Incapable of moving fast, Congress often covers its mistakes with demands upon weaker fish in the ocean of national governance. The United States Postal System is such a creature of weakness.  The USPS is at the total mercy of Congress on decisions about rates, people, and retirement.

The ugly tragedy of the situation is that the postal crisis will never be solved until Congress weighs in on the geography of making a 19th century designed system function with  20th century personnel operating at lightning speed and demand in a 21st century marketplace.

Until Congress makes some hard decisions about how urban and rural post offices will continue to deliver the mail, the whole system will be held hostage to a series of management horror shows.
