Grimes releases GOP poll showing dead heat with McConnell | Alison Lundergan Grimes, Mitch McConnell, US Senate, Kentucky, politics

Alison Lundergan Grimes' campaign sent out an email blast this morning to supporters saying that a GOP poll shows that a statistical dead heat exists between Grimes and Senator McConnell.

The email states "This one’s going to ruffle more than a few feathers over at Team Mitch. A new poll from the GOP and Rand Paul’s favorite pollster, Wenzel Strategies, once again shows a statistical tie—43 to 42, well within the margin of error.

If you’re keeping score at home, this is the 12th recent poll showing Alison tied or ahead of Mitch McConnell.

Poll after poll shows Alison can win and it won’t be long before Mitch doubles down on going negative."

McConnell is busy in Washington. Yesterday, according to one news report, he personally wangled enough Republican votes to pass a clean debt ceiling increase. "Clean" meaning no strings attached. The report cited Sen. Ted Cruz's unhappiness with what he saw as McConnell's giving in on the issue of deficit reduction.

But McConnell knows that another government shutdown will make his poll numbers sink even farther.

If polls keep on their current trajectory, McConnell's numbers will sink no matter what actions he takes as Minority Leader of the Senate.

Hear those hounds baying yet, Mitch?
