Friday is last day to reserve chicken

This lovely bird is just one example of the art available for mere chicken feed.

Last year the Hickman County Arts Council ran out of the brightly colored concrete chickens before the Spring Chicken Festival, resulting in some disappointed shoppers.

This year, the Council began taking orders at the Arts Fair. Those who pre-order will be assured of getting a bird to put on their lawn, in their flower bed or as a permanent inside decoration.

For those who missed out last year, Friday, February 28th is the last day to place an order in 2014.

This year, chickens come in three sizes, small at about ten inches, medium at about two feet and large at three feet. All sizes can be seen at Mary Potter’s law office, 113 North Washington Street in Clinton.

Chickens can be purchased painted or unpainted. Small chickens are $15 painted, $10 unpainted. Medium chickens are $30 painted, $20 unpainted and large chickens are $50 painted, $40 unpainted. To order, call 270-653-3312, email marybpotter@bellsouth.net or send a message on face book by Friday.

All proceeds go to support the Arts Council which sponsors scholarship programs, essay contests, music, art and writing events in Hickman County.
