Fulton County's unemployment rate drops

Mary Potter, West Kentucky Journal

Fulton County not so long ago led the state in unemployed workers with a whopping 18.3%. See:" Fulton County - unhappy unemployment news" July 2013

In March 2014, unemployment rates were 10.4%. That's close to a double dip drop in the rate.

Statistics released today by the Kentucky Education Cabinet charted Fulton's March 2013 to March 2014. A year ago, the rate was 15%.

Since the abysmal numbers came out, Fulton County has recruited two new factories - one candle company and one automotive facility.

Governor Beshear has worked with local officials to recruit new businesses.

Other counties in the region saw little change in the rate of unemployment over the past year.
