MURRAY, Ky. -- More than 350 students and their teachers from nine West Kentucky schools participated in the sixth annual Project Leadership Workshop at Murray State University Nov. 3.

The schools were Ballard Memorial, Livingston County, Graves County, Hickman County, Dawson Springs Junior and Senior High, Marshall County, Calloway County, Reidland Middle, Fulton County ATC and the YMCA Black Achievers from Louisville.

The students could pick from five programs in each of the two morning sessions. The programs were Break the Ice, Ethics: Deep Truths that Change your Life and the World, Be an Entrepreneur, Effective Communications, Dress for Success, PowerPoint Prowess, The Road to Student Leadership and It's All About Relationships.

In addition, there were two sessions of information about Murray State University.

Winners of the case-study competition were Karson Johnson, Marshall County, first place; Nolan Yates, Marshall County, second place; and Jacob Govea, Graves County, third place.

In the essay competition, Alicia Grady, Calloway County, won first place. Becca Green, Graves County, was second and Kelly Etheridge, Fulton County, finished third.

Project Leadership is an interactive leadership workshop led by MSU faculty and staff in conjunction with the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business and the MSU Office of Recruitment.
