(Clinton, KY) - Fifteen middle school students enjoyed a week of singing, dancing, drama and art at the first MAD (Music, Art, Dance/Drama) Camp. A cooperative event of the Hickman County Arts Council and the Hickman County UK Extension Service, a group of talented teachers shared their talents with the receptive and appreciative audience.

The week long workshop ran Monday, June 22 with classes from 9 to 12 am.

Sponsored by the Hickman County Extension Office and Arts Council, classes targeted students with a wide range of interests and abilities. The workshop emphasized creative experiences across the arts and activities align with Kentucky and National Standards in Arts and Humanities.

Dancer Cletus Murphy danced with students in a one-two-three kick. They demonstrated their twinkle toes at a luncheon on Friday.

Artists Sheri Roberts, Liz Jewell, Lily Kimbell taught water colors, free form construction and calligraphy.

Melissa Goodman shared tips on clown make up with students. Mary Potter and students put on a short play dramatizing her children's book "No-Count Dog."

At the end of the week, parents expressed their appreciation and hope that Clinton will go MAD again next summer.
