Sneak Preview of Civil War Film at Columbus Civil War Days

Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. a new movie "Clarissa's War" will preview at Columbus Belmont State Park. The movie is based upon the book "This Time Forever" by Linda Swift .

The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $2 and concessions of popcorn and drinks are available.

The movie kicks off the 25th Annual Civil War Days at Columbus Belmont State Park.

Ar left, the opening program on Friday at 5:00 includes a cannon volley. The thunder of cannon will followed by a ghost walk through the redoubts of the Park.

According to Park Director Cindy Lynch: The weekend will include battle re-enactments, history and museum tours, soldier camps, entertainment, food and more. Friday is "education day." Schools, scouts, groups and clubs are encouraged to schedule field trips.

Battles will be held at 2 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Sutlers and food vendors will be on-site to serve the needs of the re-enactors and visiting guests. There will be special entertainment daily.

Museum admission is $2 a person on Friday and $3 a person a person on Saturday and Sunday.

The Civil War Days event is co-sponsored by Columbus-Belmont State Park, the Civil War Days Committee, the Hickman County Judge-Executive's Office and Hickman County Fiscal Court.

The park is located in far western Kentucky at the junction of Highways 58, 80, and 123.
