First snow of winter - just a dusting they said

January 10, 2016 - The National Weather Service predicted little to no accumulation for Saturday night. The snow that came through the region was more than a dusting. Some areas got 1-2 inches of snow on the roadways, forcing some churches to call Sunday morning services.

The winter thus far has been unseasonably warm. Record highs for December were set in over 5000 locations.

As El Nino continues to bring in warm wet air from the Pacific, prognosticators are reluctant to make predictions on whether the weather will bring substantial snows for the remainder of the winter.
