Students create Eggs-xactly right display for Spring Chicken Festival
Mary Potter Hickman County student artists tried out an old art technique, hollowing out raw eggs then decorating the shells in colorful displays. Yolks and whites are gently blown out of the egg through a small hole in the shell. When the inside of the shell is dry and painted, shells can last for years. In another chicken related art activity, students in Rick Harrison's art classes at Hickman County Elementary School decorated hundreds of plastic eggs. to celebrate the Spring Chicken Festival scheduled for this Friday and Saturday. The Festival begins with music on the square of Clinton on Friday evening and continues all day Saturday with a 5K run/walk, music, vendors, children's events and of course - lots of food. The Spring Chicken Festival is a reflection of Hickman County's being the site of the most chicken barns in the state of Kentucky. Their colorful eggs are now on display in the Hickman County Arts Council's display case in the center of the old Hickman County Courthouse. Visitors at the Chicken Festival will be able to stroll by and enjoy the display.
