Sanders Rally attracts young and younger people | Bernie Sanders, presidential election 2016, presidential primary,

Lots of little folks, like Abby, came with their parents to Sanders' rally

The Sunday, May 15, 2016 Sanders for President political rally in Paducah, Kentucky attracted over 2,500 Democrats. The event took place at the Julian Carroll Convention Center.

Long lines for the event started to take shape at 8:30 am. At 11:00 a.m. the doors opened for the crowd to move into the center. Sanders started speaking at 1:15. He spoke till 2:45 pm.

For many in attendance, waiting for five hours and listening for another almost two hours was worth the price of being a part of history in American presidential politics. There were many in the crowd that was first timers for any national politics. Well over half of those in attendance were between the ages of 18 to 35 years of age. This group made up probably 50 % of the room.

But by far, the most heart warming were the scenes of little boys and girls, looking wide eyed at what was happening. One young man, shown at right, almost two years old, dressed out in bright yellow, stayed close to his mother for protection. Little Abby, in her special Mommy back pack, had big expressive eyes to take in all the sounds and movements. Abby is 3 years old.

At left, Katie, age 10 and her friend Linda, 9, took time to secure seats close into range of the speakers stand. This was their first ever political event. Katie is sporting a Sanders hat and button.

Before Sanders came on stage, one young lady displaying a sign saying "Sanders wants to send me to college - not war" brought cheers and laughter from the crowd.

Whole families, some with several children made the pilgrimage to attend this rally. Their fathers and mothers spoke of wanting to have them to be a part of history.
