The Calloway County Democratic Party headquarters on Chestnut Street in a former car dealership has windows on three sides. There is more than enough room for large banners and campaign signs. 
When we arrived, volunteers were bringing in yard sale goods for a Saturday fundraiser. The back room of headquarters was full and a table almost the length of the room was covered with priced items.
Seated in comfortable chairs, political activists discussed the latest national news. When we asked about Obama signs, we were told that all on hand went the first day and more were on their way.
The local party chair showed us their calling rooms, small alcoves once used for closing the deal on a new car. They had been turned into quiet areas for volunteers to make campaign calls.
The Democrats at headquarters were pumped up for the fight ahead. Traffic at headquarters was reported to be around a hundred people a day in and out. The local party is ready to take the campaign out into the county. It’s a door to door war they don’t intend to lose.
