Justice Cunningham Honored By Corrections Cabinet

In honor of Constitution Day, we recognize a West Kentuckian who is as modest and self effacing as a Kentucky Supreme Court Justice can be. Judge Bill Cunningham of Kuttawa received the Lucille Hurt Robuck “Commitment to Corrections” Award in early September. Justice Cunningham’s 1994 history of Eddyville’s Kentucky Penitentiary, “The Castle” demonstrated a depth of understanding of what Kentucky inmates at Eddyville.
Other books by Justice Cunningham recounted courageous West Kentuckians “Flames in the Wind”, the fight against exploitation of tobacco farmers “On Bended Knees, the Night Riders Story” (which has been optioned for a film). His latest history, “A Distant Light” chronicles social injustice in Kentucky and two Kentucky governors who faced it squarely.
All of Justice Cunningham’s books are worth a read. Celebrate Constitution Day by ordering one from Paula Cunningham’s publishing company. McClanahan Publishing
