Former Governor of Georgia Sonny Perdue will be nominated to be the next federal secretary of Department of Agriculture. Trump got to know Perdue when he served as part of Trump's agricultural advisory committee during his recent presidential campaign.

The 70 year old Georgia native has had a distinguished professional life. He served ten years, from 1991 to 3003, as a state senator. He ran for Governor of Georgia in 2003. He won that term and a 2^nd term in 2006.

After the time as Governor, Perdue formed a company to broker agriculture goods around the planet. Perdue is now seen as an expert in global trade and international trade exports.

For Kentucky, this appointment is one of the most important posts in President Trump's Cabinet.

During the spring of 2017, Congress will write a new federal farm act. The new Act will have policy ramifications for much of the food grown in America. Embedded within the Farm Act will be the federal policy on rural development and the fate of hundreds of small towns.
