Friday evening fourteen members of the Fulton County Democratic Committee met in Hickman to eat, laugh and along the way talk some politics.

Committee chair Brad Wiley provided the chicken and members provided the green beans, sweet potato casserole and potato salad.

After dinner, the committee discussed ways it can be more involved in Fulton County. One idea is to support Riverbend Ministry which provides food for local families. A fundraiser will be held in mid March at Casey Methodist Church featuring among other items, a gun auction. Younger members of the committee vowed to get in on the bidding.

Gene Nettles asked if Fulton County Democrats had a banner. He was assured it did not. A vote was taken to purchase a banner to use when the group is at local events, like Pontontoc in Fulton or the Pecan Festival in Hickman.

Wiley told the group that a state requirement is that they meet at least quarterly. After a lively discussion about setting a goal for the committee, one member suggested that monthly meetings would be the thing to do. That idea was met with approval by the Committee.

Members left the meeting with their stomachs full of good food and their heads full of new ideas for reaching out to their neighbors in Fulton County.
