Graves High Academic Team wins 2017 Governor's Cup District Championship; next, Graves hosts regionals Feb. 18 | Graves County High School, academic team, education,

The Graves County High School Academic Team won its fifth consecutive Governor's Cup District Championship recently at Mayfield High School.

Graves County's Quick Recall team placed first, by defeating Ballard Memorial 38 to 9 and then defeating Mayfield 32 to 7. Pictured, from left, are Ryan Overby, coach Jeremy Krug, Emily Goddard, Matthew Woods, Allie Seavers, Alec McClain, Megan Schmitt, and Avery McClain.

Individual winners include Ryan Overby, first in math; Emily Goddard, first in arts and humanities and first in language arts; Matthew Woods, second in science and second in social studies; Alec McClain, first in science, and second in math; Megan Schmitt, fifth in composition; Avery McClain, third in language arts; Logan Elliott, fifth in math; and Karli Prather, first in composition, third in science, and third in arts and humanities. All of those students advance to the regional competition Saturday, Feb. 18, at Graves County High School.
