Fancy Farm 2020: BBQ without political brawling

Fancy Farm 2020: BBQ without political brawling | Fancy Farm 2020, politics, Mitch McConnell, Graves County Kentucky,

An empty stage on the first Saturday in August 2020.

Fancy Farm Picnic is the latest in a series of iconic events changed, cancelled or postponed because of Covid-19.

There will be barbecue on the first weekend of August. There will be no political speaking.

The St. Jerome's Catholic Church committee that manages the Picnic decided that the first plan to hold the political speaking in the Fancy Farm Elementary School gym. The school is within sight of the church grounds. The plan was to limit the audience to a social distancing number.

The committee decided that too was unworkable.

Breakfasts, luncheons and dinners put on by political parties and labor most likely won't go on. McCracken County Democratic Party has already cancelled their Thursday evening dinner. Fundraising will be virtual.

The trek to Graves County from the eastern portions of the state won't happen this year.

Maybe next year.
