Ingram donates generator to City of Columbus
Councilwoman Debbie Williams and Mayor Frizzell stand in front of new generator. Sammy Barclay and Wesley Henley stand in back.
Ingram Barge Company was honored on Thursday, July 2, 2009 by the Governor of Kentucky for donating a generator to the City of Columbus. City officials and barge company representatives gathered at the Columbus Water System building for a short presentation and the installation of a generator that will prevent the city's residents from going without water as they did during the winter storm of 2009.
Ingram Barge Company has a floating dry dock on the Mississippi River a half mile from Columbus, Kentucky. The Company realized after the 2009 January -February Ice Storm how bad the small community of Columbus had been hit by the power outage.
When Ingram upgraded their generators, they held a 30 kilowatt generator for the City of Columbus. The generator will provide water to 100 customers in case of a power outage.
Governor Beshear recognized Ingram’s gift with a proclamation presented to Ingram Barge Company by Hickman County Executive Committee member and Columbus resident, Lindy Henley.  Also at the presentation were Cindy Lynch, the director of Columbus Belmont State Park, Mayor Richard Frizzell, City Councilwoman Debbie Williams and Lindy’s son, Wesley Henley, and Sammy Barclay, representing Ingram Barge Company.
