Governor Elect Steve Beshear named the chairpeople that will oversee transfer of power from the Fletcher administration to the Beshear administration. Lt. Gov. Elect Dan Mongiardo, Beshear campaign manager Jim Cauley of Pikeville and Larry Hayes, currently deputy mayor of Louisville will lead the team. Serving as the liaison to the current administration will be Lt. Gov. Steve Pence (remember him?).

Beshear also named nine chairpersons to oversee specific areas of state government:

  1.       Helen Mountjoy, executive director of the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corp. to the Commerce Cabinet
  2.       Former representative Steve Nunn, of Glasgow, a Republican who broke with tradition to endorse Beshear, to the Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet
  3.       Ed Holmes, Lexington, to work with the Governor's office
  4.       JoEtta Wickliffe, Harrodsburg, a banker and UK trustee, to the Economic Development Cabinet
  5.       Carol Palmore, Frankfort, former Personnel Secretary to the Personnel Cabinet
  6.       Former state senator Eleanor Jordan, Louisville, to Health and Family Services
  7.       Donna Moore, retired KET executive, to the Education Cabinet
  8.       Sen. Ernesto Scorsone to the Transportation Cabinet
  9.       Mark Guilfoyle, a Northern Kentucky lawyer, to Finance and Administration Cabinet.

In addition to the appointments, Beshear vowed not to "purge" workers that came in with the Fletcher administration and to follow the merit laws fully.
