First District House Representative Steve Rudy - a man of few words

First District House Rep. Steve Rudy (Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, Hickman and part of McCracken) got the coin toss and gave the first two minute remarks of the First District House race. His “job interview” speech consisted of thanking everyone for showing up, thanking outgoing chair Adrian Roof and then telling the crowd he was a new father and a businessman.  Then he sat down.

Challenger Mike Lawrence, the former McCracken County Circuit Clerk, joked that he didn’t like anyone to push his buttons – but he would be happy if voters push his button on election day.  Lawrence talked about his status as a veteran, telling the crowd that he had been to three veterans’ meeting in the past month or so. Rep. Rudy who serves on the House Committee that deals with veterans’ affairs was not. Lawrence promised to show up early and work hard for his constituents.
