Governor Beshear Announces Associated Warehousing to Expand in Murray

Project represents $1.6 million investment

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 10, 2010) – Gov. Steve Beshear today announced a $1.6 million investment by Associated Warehousing to expand its Murray facility.  The company is adding 84,000 square feet to its operation for a total of 210,000 square feet of distribution space.

“I’m pleased that the Commonwealth could partner with Associated Warehousing on its $1.6 million investment,” said Gov. Beshear. “The expansion of the company’s Murray distribution center represents positive growth in Murray’s business community and we are pleased to be a part of it.”

Associated Warehousing, located in Murray for more than a decade, distributes finished goods and raw materials and is a supplier to Briggs & Stratton, which recently announced a major reinvestment project of its own in Murray.  The expansion project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

“Associated Warehousing is appreciative of Briggs & Stratton’s Murray plant for the opportunity to grow with them and expand our facility,” said Randy McDaniel, co-owner of Associated Warehousing. “My partners, Anthony and Eugene Manning, and I place high value in their confidence in us to manage their finished products and materials. They are great folks with a great product.”

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved Associated Warehousing for tax benefits up to $50,000 through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act.  The incentive allows approved companies to recoup Kentucky sales and use tax on construction and building costs.

“Obviously, Associated Warehousing has confidence in Calloway County and we are pleased to have them as a growing and productive partner in our community,” said Sen. Ken Winters of Murray.

“This is great news for our community, and could not come at a better time,” said Rep. Melvin Henley of Murray.  “I want to thank Associated Warehousing for deciding to expand, and I want to thank the Cabinet for Economic Development for helping in that endeavor.”

“Any time a company expands it is great for our community,” said Calloway County Judge Executive Larry Elkins.  “When a company expands in a tight economy it is even more exciting.  Associated Warehousing serves important companies like Briggs & Stratton and has certainly helped make their location in Murray more successful.  We appreciate the KEDFA Board and Gov. Beshear working to make small businesses in Kentucky successful.”

“We are delighted to see our businesses in Murray and Calloway County prosper,” said Murray Mayor Danny Hudspeth.  “Because of efforts like this our local economy has managed to maintain one of the lowest unemployment percentages in the Commonwealth.  We wish the best for Associated Warehousing and the important companies they serve in the area.”
