Mayfield celebrates 4th of July with Glory Days

Mayfield Glory Days 2013

June 19, 2013 (Mayfield, KY) The 4th of July falls in the middle of the week again this year – on a Thursday -- and as usual, that’s when Mayfield will celebrate Glory Days events with everything including the car/truck/bike show, farmer’s market, vendors, kids water fun, music and food.  All this and more will be downtown from 9 am until about 4 pm when the car show awards are over.

Events will kick off with the Kiddie Parade at 9 am – with car show/vendors area/kids area all opening to the public at 9am as well.  A new and very special feature this year will be Guest Performer/Magician Daniel Lusk, who will have a show on the courthouse steps at 10am and 1pm – plus will be the opening show for the concert at the MHS track area, beginning at 6pm.  Special music from the courthouse steps this year begins at 11:00 AM with Soul Dog, continuing till 1 pm. Lots of food and fun with a kids area with inflatables and water slide also open throughout the day.

The schedule for the evening at the MHS Track includes:

5:30 pm - Pet Parade and Show with prizes for the Biggest Pet, the Smallest Pet, the Best Trick, and Most Patriotic Costume.  Event sponsored by the Mayfield-Graves County Animal Shelter – no pre-registration required.

6:00 pm – Magic show onstage at the Track Area featuring Magician Daniel Lusk.

7:00 pm – Pre-fireworks concert featuring Lindsey Lane & Axis.  This group was a part of the 2012 Summer Music Fest series and entertained the crowds thoroughly.  “I don’t think I’ve ever had so many raving comments about a group that we have had for a city event as I have had for Lindsey Lane and Axis.  It was a no-brainer to invite them to perform as a part of our Glory Days Celebration this year,” commented Mayor Teresa Cantrell.  Their repertoire includes songs from the 1950’s through current pop, rock and country songs – something for everyone!

8:45pm – Veterans luminaries lit around the track and special light show by the Gold Wings Road Riders Chapter Y.  Luminary forms available now at City Hall’s Information Center – In Memory or In Honor of Your Favorite Veteran.  The Goldwings will also have a booth on the courthouse lawn during the day selling the luminaries.

9:00pm - THE AREA’S BEST FIREWORKS – again with some surprises this year – don’t miss it!  Fireworks are sponsored once again by West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative, WK & T Telephone, FNB, Mayfield Electric & Water, TVA, and the Mayfield Cable Authority.

VENDORS – Vendor forms are available at City Hall’s Information Center , as well as on the website.  It’s not too late to have a vendor booth!

AND….don’t forget these associated events:

Friday, June 28 – Little Mr. & Miss Independence Day Pageant at His House Ministries Center, sponsored by the Lighthouse.

Thursday, July 4 – BAM! Bike Around Mayfield ride – 7am & 8am starts at the Ice House on 8th & North Streets.

Check out the downloads on our website at www.cityofmayfield.org for entry forms.  Also available are the additional events like the Little Mr. & Miss Pageant (sponsored by the Lighthouse) and the BAM! Bike Around Mayfield sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.
