A McCracken County Grand Jury has indicted Judge-Executive Van Newberry and Deputy Judge-Executive Doug Harnice on one count each of tampering with records, in connection to changes made in county zoning after Newberry took office.

In an interview with Ovey, he stated "This indictment came this morning after a very extensive investigation that was spear headed by the Attorney General Jack Conway, by and through his special investigations and public integrity unit. This Grand Jury heard the results of that investigation and over the period of three days listened to several witnesses, viewed several exhibits and made their decision based upon the testimony of the witnesses and their review of the exhibits."

The offense charged is a Class D Felony, punishable upon conviction by no less than 1 year to 5 years in a penitentiary The Defendants are presumed innocent, this is merely a charge.

January 16th at 8:30 AM, has been scheduled for the arraignment of Newberry and Harnice.
