Attack on Unions...Right to Work Strategy - 2015 Trend

Last month, Warren County Kentucky became the first county in America to pass a local ordinance declaring the county a right to work county. A national right wing Republican friendly money campaign has targeted Kentucky as the next political ideological landscape to increase profits of large corporations.

Several years ago, a judge in an Ashland, Kentucky court case ruled that workers' pensions could be bankrupted out on. Next came the court ruling that corporations are people for political purposes. Money is speech, the courts now say. In this case, free speech in politics is all about mega money buying elections.

In the last week of December, 2014, Fulton County Fiscal Court passed a Right to Work during a bizarre series of specially called meetings meant to limit debate on this issue. Soon after, Simpson County did the same thing. Now Hardin County is poised to join the list of Right to Work counties in Kentucky.

The mega money behind this rush to take Kentucky into the anti union world combined with the failure of 30 years of state and local leadership in designing and establishing a sound economic development policy is about to push Kentucky backwards in jobs creation. In this situation, state and local officials are working to make sure that employee wages are depressed and stay at sub-national levels.
